Assembly Election Results 2023: In November, elections were held in five states, and the outcomes for Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh were disclosed on Sunday. Among these, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured a resounding majority in three states. Deemed as crucial semifinals leading up to the pivotal 2024 Lok Sabha polls, these results bear immense significance, shaping the trajectory of Indian politics.
In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP dominated the elections by securing victory in 164 out of 230 seats, while the Congress lagged behind with 65 seats. In Rajasthan, the BJP emerged triumphant in 115 assembly constituencies, with the Indian National Congress following with 69 seats, and 8 independent candidates winning in the Vidhan Sabha Chunav. Contrary to exit polls, the BJP secured victory in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections with 54 seats, leaving the Congress with 35 seats. In Telangana, the Congress claimed victory with 64 seats out of 90, while the ruling BRS won in 39 assembly constituencies, and the BJP managed to secure only 8 seats.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the assembly in these 5 states Prime Minister Narendra Modi predicted the party's "hat-trick" in next year's Lok Sabha polls. Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the electoral mandate in the three states underscores the public's clear stance against corruption, appeasement, and dynastic politics. He stated, "Voters recognize that progress at the national level translates into progress at the state level, benefiting every family in the country. This is why voters consistently choose the BJP. Some are even suggesting that today's hat-trick ensures a hat-trick in 2024."
